You have to have some tools to build mini sites

You absolutely must publish your mini sites on your own domain name! Blogger and other providers make it easy to start publishing on their sites without the hassle and expense of finding and registering your own domain name and arranging hosting. You will be really sorry if you go that route.

It's a matter of control. If you own your own name you set all the rules. Not having your own name would be like starting a retail business in a store with a month to month lease. Any time the landlord told you to move much of the value of the business would disappear.

You can register a domain name and arrange for hosting for about $15 per year at GoDaddy or many other sites. It will be money well spent.

Wordpress is probably the easiest way to start. It is free blogging software and many hosting companies have automatic installers to place it one your site. Once installed you can start writing postings whenever you have a chance. It will work best if you can add content once a week or on some other more or less regular schedule.

More and more providers offer easy to use website creation software. Google has their free Page Creator tool that will do a nice job. As your sites grow you will quickly discover the limitations of these programs, but for starter mini sites they work really well.

The trick is to get get something published and start making a little from it. Once the first dollar arrives it will seem "real" and encourage you to keep going. It can be very hard in the early days when you have put in a lot of time with little tangible to show for it. That's why working with a subject you care about helps too.

I looked at Ebay to see if there were books on how to write mini sites I could recommend. Unfortunately, there were not. I saw mostly the kind of Get Rich quick and easy titles I don't believe. I think a trip to your local bookstore is the best option.
