Growing Yourself & Your Income While Nurturing the Kids

A mother who stays home to raise the kids doesn't have much time. What time there is tends to come at unpredictable moments. You can never be sure how much time you have. It makes it almost impossible to work on any project with a significant setup time or which requires you to focus. Mini sites and the nature of website publishing are something you can make progress with under these conditions.

Your research for and about topics can be done whenever there is a slow moment. If you plan to publish something related to kids you may even be able to involve your kid(s) in the process. Maybe they can help test sites for which you plan to write reviews. (I know this is a little optimistic :).

You will need an uninterrupted block of time to write thoughtful, substantial pages, but lists of useful sites and many other sections of a good mini site can be done piecemeal. Best of all, websites are always a "Work in Progress". They are never really finished. So you can publish as soon as you have a couple of pages and add to your site(s) as you go.

At first no one except the search engine spiders will probably see you writing, do the errors and omissions won't matter. There just needs to be enough content so the search engines can figure out the theme of your site. As you publish more pages and your rankings improve, so with the quality of what you write.

For the perfectionists keep in mind that something is always better than nothing. Until you actually publish a page on the web you have nothing. I once spent a weekend putting up some one page sites with very sketchy content. It took me almost a year to get back to each of them and write more. However, that year of aging with some on theme content helped them rank.
